The Washington County Library System placed a temporary moratorium on fines and fees on March 20, 2020, ensuring late fees were not charged on overdue items. This measure was intended to assist patrons in practicing social separation that couldn’t come to the library to check in their items.
When the library branches reopened with curbside service, fines and due dates were reactivated. A grace period of 2 weeks was allotted, extending the checkout period of all materials until May 3, 2020.
That grace period has now expired. Items should be returned or renewed. Items not returned will be assessed their normal fine rate, which is 10 cents a day in most cases. This will assist in bringing the library back to normal operations. Items can be renewed online at: library.washco.utah.gov – or call your local library branch to renew over the phone.
