Are you ready to revive your creativity? The Washington County Library System wants you to show us your creativity in recycling and re-imagining old books. The theme of the Un~Bound Upcycled Book Art contest is “Libraries Transform”. Washington County residents age 5 through 105 are invited to find an old discarded book, unleash their imagination, and transform the book into a one-of-a-kind piece of art.<\/p>\n
Upcycling, also referred to as creative reuse, involves transforming an unwanted item, or one that is going to be turned into waste, into a new product of better quality, different use, or with greater environmental value. Upcycling is a great way of exercising your creativity, coming up with different ways of reusing items, and giving them a second life!<\/p>\n
Entries will be judged on originality, technique, and theme in the following age groups: Children age 5-8 and 9-12, Teens age 13-15 and 16-18, Adults age 19 and up, and Special Needs in all age groups. This year’s prizes are bigger than ever! The winners in each group will win a gift card and a plaque, which will be presented at the awards ceremony.<\/p>\n
Need a book for your project? Pick up a free recycled book at your library branch. Entries can be turned in to your local branch on March 25th through March 31st<\/strong>, and judging will be held on April 1st.
